The north of Thuringia in particular, around the former imperial city of Mühlhausen and the town of Bad Frankenhausen, was the scene of decisive military conflicts.
In the former imperial city of Mühlhausen, the Thuringian State Exhibition will commemorate this period from April 26th to October 10th, 2025 in four different museums with central exhibitions and outstanding exhibits:
- Museum St. Marien | Müntzer Memorial (Society in Transition - Living Environment, Models of Order, Distortions)
- Kornmarktkirche | Peasants' War Memorial (The Peasants' War - radicalisation, crisis management, consequences)
- Museum of Art History (Interpretation and Reception - Memory, Instrumentalisation, Interpretation)
- All Saints' Church Museum (History Lab - history laboratory and cultural space)
The Panorama Museum in Bad Frankenhausen with its oversized Peasants' War panorama - a barrel painting by the painter Tübke - is another central part of the state exhibition. From May 10th to August 17th, 2025, there will be a special exhibition on the subject of "Viewing the ages with historical models by Werner Tübke".
