From 16 April to 11 October 2026, the State Garden Show in Neuss invites visitors to enjoy a unique experience of nature and culture. Guided tours, exciting lectures, interactive workshops and a varied supporting programme of concerts and other cultural events make it the ideal destination for day trips and excursions lasting several days. Special group offers are also available and enable customised travel experiences.
One year later, it is the Ruhr region that invites you to be astonished: For the first time, the IGA Ruhr is taking place in a decentralised location and impressively combines industrial history, modern landscape architecture and pioneering sustainability concepts. Future gardens full of flowers and innovations show what transformation can create - a special experience not only for garden lovers. The IGA is complemented by numerous events and cultural events that make the visit a highlight for group tours.
But if you like greenery, you don't have to wait for the garden shows. Idyllic hiking and cycling trails as well as exciting nature experiences attract visitors all year round and in many places in NRW. For example, a tour through Siegen-Wittgenstein with its enchanted forests, legendary castle ruins and rare animal species is a delightful experience. Whether it's a short family tour or a challenging Rothaarsteig - everyone will find the right route here.
Castles and fortresses are not only popular destinations in Siegen-Wittgenstein - and there are more of them in North Rhine-Westphalia than in any other federal state. From the Unesco World Heritage Site of Brühl Palaces to Drachenburg Castle, which towers high above the Rhine on the most climbed mountain in the world, to defiant castles such as Altena Castle in the Sauerland region, the range of impressive buildings invites you to discover them.
