Founded by Hans-Peter Porsche, grandson of the legendary engineer Ferdinand Porsche, the Traumwerk combines the history of technology, design and a genuine passion for collecting to create an extraordinary visitor experience. Since opening in 2015, the visitor centre has delighted around 100,000 guests of all ages every year.
Spanning an area of 55,000 m², visitors can look forward to a variety of themed worlds that are ideally suited to group programmes: the impressive model railway world features 400 m² of detailed landscapes from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with over 200 moving trains and a spectacular light and sound show. The historic tin toy collection comprises more than 2,100 exhibits dating from 1860 to 1930 and is considered the world’s largest publicly accessible collection of its kind. Intricate steam engines, railways, cars and nostalgic carousels bring bygone eras to life. The experience is complemented by a top-class car collection featuring iconic vehicles such as the Porsche 550 Spyder and the prototype of the Porsche 356/1.
The extensive facilities, short distances, accessible entry points and excellent catering – offering quick, high-quality group meals – make this a particularly attractive destination for coach groups. The spacious park, complete with a miniature railway and interactive areas, enhances the visitor experience and makes the Traumwerk an ideal stop on day trips and multi-day excursions.
The exceptional architecture, regular special exhibitions and events ensure that it is well worth visiting more than once. Under the leadership of Managing Director Sven Bössow, Traumwerk continues to evolve – with the vision of becoming a vibrant meeting place for enthusiasts of technology, design and culture.
