Historic half-timbered towns and picturesque landscapes

GrimmHeimat NordHessen delights with its unexpected beauty and eventful offerings.

Gentle, impressive natural landscapes and lively small-town gems combine to create a harmonious overall picture and provide plenty of scope for discovery.

Bad Hersfeld - Festival in front of a historic backdrop.
In the spa and half-timbered town of Bad Hersfeld, historic half-timbered scenery meets lively small-town flair. The Bad Hersfeld Festival in the Abbey Ruins thrills audiences every year with classical festivals, musicals and concerts.

Rotenburg an der Fulda and Melsungen - Artful half-timbered ensemble to linger in.  Numerous cafés and restaurants invite you to relax with North Hessian specialities against a beautiful backdrop of half-timbered houses directly on the Fulda. In Melsungen, the town's symbolic figure, the Bartenwetzer, welcomes his guests and takes them on a tour through artistic half-timbered houses into the life and work of earlier times.

The ARS NATURA art trail is a must for all hikers interested in art. A hiking network unique in Europe stretches over approx. 325 km with approx. 385 works of art and combines nature and culture.

In Kassel, fairytale idyll meets urban city flair.
Kassel is characterised by a mix of art, pleasure and experience: Europe's largest mountain park with its unique water games, the children's and house fairytales as a fairytale legacy of the famous Brothers Grimm in the GRIMMWELT, culinary diversity from near and far and a great museum density. Kassel will once again become a hotspot of modern art on the occasion of the world art exhibition "documenta" in 2022. The Habichtswald Nature Park impresses with its bizarre rocks, giant trees on old hayfields and hilltops with many great views and vistas.

Hann. -Münden - where the Fulda and Werra kiss each other

This is where enchanting idyll meets fairytale landscape. Hann. Münden is the town of the famous Doctor Eisenbarth. A mighty Guelph castle, historic towers and town walls, bridges and the unique river location on the Fulda, Werra and Weser offer a variety of attractions. The half-timbered town is the starting point for many walking tours and cycle paths along the rivers.
